I really love reading historical romances especially involving married couples. I found this book interesting and funny. Honestly, I laughed at some parts because well, I couldn’t help. Besides, this book has gossip column attached to it. It’s like the slight version of Gossip Girl only with historical essence in it.

The book involves two main characters – Daphne Bridgertons and Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings. The duo has agreed to help each other by being seen together as Daphne wants to find husband who loves her not the ones who only likes her and Simon wants to run away from crazy mothers who introducing their unmarried daughters to him. At first, before they know each other, Simon seems interested with Daphne but only then he found out she’s his best friend’s sister, Anthony Bridgertons. Anthony is an annoying character because he’s too overprotective but well, I do understand. Aren’t all brothers acting like that when it comes about their sisters? Anthony loves Daphne and he doesn’t want Daphne to get hurt. I didn’t exactly know how to elaborate about Benedict as he’s always on Anthony’s side but Colin’s great. I liked that man. Since he’s the opposite and the closest to Daphne but still, he doesn’t wish something bad happened to Daphne.

Story goes when involvement of three elder brothers of Daphne – Anthony, Benedict and Colin. These brothers especially Anthony, are very overprotective. Although he’s friend of Simon, Anthony doesn’t trust Simon to take care of Daphne for he knew things Simon did back when they were still naughty and young. However, his sister fell in love with Simon. Who doesn’t when he’s a duke and has brown hair with piercing blue eyes. Anyway, Simon also has feelings for Daphne but he refuses to marry her, reject her even! It’s because he has secrets. Since Daphne really loves Simon, she does care for him and she still accepts him despite of rejection from him. For that, I really loved Daphne.

Losing one star because although hero and heroin are loving each other but the chemistry sparks just didn’t ignite that great. When Daphne and Simon seeing each other for the first time, the chemistry’s awesome but somehow, as the story goes, the chemistry’s decreasing.

Still, I enjoy reading this!
