3 starsRyder (Dracula) + Sabine (phoenix)
SPOILER ALERT. This is an honest and highly subjective review, proceed with caution. You have been warned. What I Liked.
One. The vamps here aren't sparkly, have granite teeth and "vegetarian". They are monsters, killer machines, have two protruding fangs, drink from human, some are ugly, and they don't shy away from showing you gore, can be killed by fire, beheaded, stake (exception to Dracula because he's a king to all vamps and ancient). Just exactly what I wanted from VAMPIRE.
Two. The author described the gore that is sufficient for me to imagine the worst of it all. I LIKED. E.g.
The place slicked with blood. So how I imagined it? Bloodbath with gutted, severed organs everywhere.
Three. Amazing plot. I really loved it. So much happened within one, two chapter it was a page turner. I love a book that can surprise me over and over again. Also, a book that manages to keep my interest going. Thumbs up.
Four. It was a great satisfaction to read Wyatt's killed in previous book but to have to read it again in this book because things actually happened at one time, it was a double dose of great satisfaction. As much as I'm happy that he's dead, killing him somehow is an easy way for him though. He should be tortured, given pain to the extreme, slow death.
I may sound like a sadist, my apologies.
Five. I liked Rhett. He's human, learnt the truth about his baby sister and he love her still. The guy is so damn fine, caring, accepting, loving, and kind. Now people, he's a rare species and slowly facing extinction - even in real world. I hope he gets his own book. Please, Ms. Eden.
What I Disliked.
One. Possessive Dracula is so annoying I want to knock him with kitchen spatula. He just didn't give Sabine a right or a chance to choose what she wanted to become. Too much controlling it was suffocating.
Two. There's one particular thing that's missing, I didn't like it at all. Clue: Grayson. Clue No. 2: I thought he was one of the bad guys in disguise?
Three. The romance was dull. Read only the first intimate scene and didn't bother to read other scenes, they were bore. To conclude, this two has no chemistry. Felt no connection between them.
......I can't wait to read Book 3. The evil knivel Dante and human-with-poisoned-blood Cassandra. Hope it'll be good. The excerpt was intriguing enough.
Read on your own peril.
