Spoiler alert. This is an honest and highly subjective review. You've been warned.

I liked the beginning of the book because of the action scenes. It was thrilling, gore and wicked. But things were getting slow in between where it focused more on emotional aspects. Yes, the emotional part was to be expected but the load of it definitely killed the mood. Also I didn't impress with the climactic scene. Sure, it sounded dangerous and suicidal but it felt too easy for me, like there was a loophole.

I liked that I felt connected with the main characters but I didn't enjoy their romance because it felt forced, no chemistry. Biased may it seems but I liked Abby instantly after knowing she's an assassin. That means she's a real deal kind of woman. Kane is a mercenary soldier just as a strong, good man. I honestly can't say much about him.

Another bugger thing about this book is that when I more enjoyed reading secondary characters than the main. They stole the spotlight and it sucked and yet it was great.

I will continue with this series and I hope the next book will have more suspense and gore than mushy mushy heart-to-heart stuff.
