On the Rocks

On the Rocks - Sawyer Bennett SURFER DUDE weh! So gonna have me hands on this.

Alex

Alex - Sawyer Bennett ARC provided by Random House Publishing Group via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Highland Henchman

The Highland Henchman - Amy Jarecki 3.75 rounds it to 4 stars

I AM FREAKING FURIOUS WITH THE ENDING. It was rush, most of it did not make sense, and definitely not what I was expecting. Honestly, after all the fusses that happened and it simply ended like that and I was like, like... what the feeeeeesh. I thought there was a cliffhanger or something I swiped the page back and forth but no, there wasn't. I am extremely disappointed, dammit! Goodness, why... *crying*. The Highland Henchman could do much better, seriously. The writing style is almost perfect and the plot's improved I already fell in love, hard. So much potential this one, it's pity it turned out differently.

Trouble

Trouble - Elle Casey 4 stars

WARNING: Present-tense POV.
I'm cool with it but... oh why?

Loved the story and liked the main characters. Heroine didn't so much of cussing, it's a relief. I don't mind people swearing and cussing but too much of it... it's plain annoying (heroines in previous books love to cuss). And I must say, of all three books in the series, Trouble is my favourite! Also, at the moment I'm sucker for pregnant ladies and kids, so my opinion may be biased. Now I got my answers in regard of Teagan's dad. It wasn't in satisfying way but at least it's a closure. So, it's fine enough.

Recommended.

Captured by the Pirate Laird

Captured by the Pirate Laird - Amy Jarecki 3.5 but I just round it up to 4 stars

Snail-paced story. Main characters are fine. Calum and Anne has strong chemistry sparks between them. Their attraction was instant but slow development of romance with intense sexual tension which took the first 50% of book. If you have no patience for anything slow, I bet the book could bore you to death. The next 50% though was amazing. That's where action and suspense took place! However, I didn't like the way the villain die. To my sadist heart, it was too easy and kind of mercy. How I wish he gets the equal torture the way he inflicted on Calum. Anyway, at least he's dead so all gets their happily ever after, yay!

Recommended.

Hellion

Hellion - Elle Casey 2 stars

WARNING: Present-tense POV.

I extremely disliked the heroine but I can never hate her because she made me crackling a lot. The hero is nice and charming and honestly, Quin just don't deserve Mike. Their romance was dull, no sparks whatsoever. The only reason I was willing to put through with Hellion is because I needed to know what happened to Teagan's dad. Now that the truth is slowly unraveled, I need to read next book and I hope by then, I get the answers, the closure I want.

Rebel

Rebel - Elle Casey 3 stars

WARNING: Present-tense POV.
Gahhh...

There's almost no plot not until near end of the book. At least this book was funny enough it got me hooked until the end. I wonder how old old is Rebel and damn well he's hot stuff mechanic, muscle car enthusiast! I liked Teagan because she stays strong when her world's crumpling apart. Attraction-sexual tension, chemistry sparks are there but sadly, I failed to see any blooming romance. I have to read the next book because I'm curious about what happened to Teagon's dad. I need to know, you know. At least Rebel has no angst and it was a light read. Go for it if you're looking for some laugh in NA.

Like Gravity

Like Gravity - Julie Johnson 4 stars

Like Gravity is a love story between Finn and Brooklyn, well, for most of it. It was a wonderful story and I liked the main characters. Secondary characters are likable too especially Lexi, how I wish to have a friend like her. Tyler, there's no inkling about him I know of except he's friend with Finn.

Finn and Brooklyn both are tortured souls but since this book's only from Brooklyn's point-of-view, I got only to experience her damaged life but I don't know much about Finn's. Hence, the missing puzzle in this book would be Finn's past and honestly, I've got tons of questions about him.

Their romance progressed slowly, that I loved. I enjoyed their conversations, their banters and they're so cute and sweet together which is enough to get bubbled up with happiness, laughter and joy. No major roller coaster angsty crap in this book but that still didn't stop me from not liking this one particular scene, however short as it was.

Accompany with the love story is a little bit of suspense. The outcome was predictable and it ended abruptly, something's missing - definitely not what I was expecting. IMO, this book could turn out fine without the element of suspense. Still, I'm not complaining. I rather it be suspense and mystery than love triangle and cheating.

Overall, Like Gravity is a good debut and I love the writing style. Go for it if you love sweet, cute romance between couple with dark past with a little bit of action. Recommended.

Say The Word

Say The Word - Julie Johnson I think I'm going to like this book (when I'd started it, of course) because based on most of the reviews, they wanted more STEAMY but less SUSPENSE.

The thing about me is... I'm always one on the other way around. ^^

Full Measures

Full Measures - Rebecca Yarros 4 stars

This is the saddest book I've ever read for this month, maybe year... I can't remember. Full Measures was quite emotional, realistic and full of drama llama which I gave an exception because it's family drama llama, that I can handle but not boyfriend-girlfriend drama llama.

The main characters are likable enough. I didn't mind the instant attraction as long as it wasn't instant love. At least I got to read the mid-paced romance development and Josh and December are sweet together.

Full Measures often made me on verge of tears. It was filled with too much of grief and sorrow of losing someone. I couldn't imagine it to be in December's position but I totally can imagine what it feels like to be scared at home with so many ifs, waiting for someone once truly care and love to return from deployment. I was almost crying when I read the letter.

Wonderful story and if you love military love story, this is for you. Recommended.

Easy

Easy - Tammara Webber 4 stars

Oh. Wow. Now I know why people got fuss over this. I'm not going to say a lot here because I'm lazy to write long review I bet a bunch of detailed reviews out there are suffice.

My favourite of most about this book is the absence of angsty drama llama. WOOHOO! If you don't know, I hate the typical unnecessary angsty drama llama in NA, it often associated to wasting the precious time.

I liked the main characters. I liked Jacqueline because she's a sweetheart, strong-willed, and kickass. I liked Lucas because I liked the way he shows affection towards Jacqualine. I liked minor characters too especially Erin and Benji. How I wish to have friends like them!

Overall, it was an Easy read with wonderful story and amazing characters. Recommended.

The Tycoon's Proposal

The Tycoon's Proposal - Melody Anne 3 stars

I'm not surprise if I'm one of the minor here. Minor as in I quite enjoyed the book when others seemed... not. I was thankful I trust my gut to go through and not skip this book.

Main characters are quite exasperating at most times but both of them have great chemistry. I particularly loved the masquerade scene, it was incredibly hot with the mystery and all. In my opinion, this book has so much potential that it's too bad the story's too short.

Anyway, I can't help but notice that most of the characters' names started with D and J. I assume the author must loves them. Overall, The Tycoon's Proposal was a decent, wonderful story. Already I miss the Titan men.

The Tycoon's Vacation

The Tycoon's Vacation - Melody Anne 3 stars

Fast-paced and quick read. What I didn't like is this book lacked of romance development, so it was dull. Also, I felt no connection with main characters. Overall, it was a good story merely for enjoyment.

Tell Me When

Tell Me When - Stina Lindenblatt 4 stars

WARNING: Present-tense POV.

Finally, found and read a decent NA book for this year. Yay!

All I can say is Tell Me When was a great read and the story was engaging. Quite emotional and heart wrenching. I liked most of characters. I loved the slow development of romance between main characters. I loved the friendships in this book too. The suspense was enthralling. The writing was captivating and the author is amazing for being able to deliver this kind of story, as debut novel. The only thing that felt off to me is the ending. To be frank, for such a lengthy novel to have a simple, quick, and rush ending, it's not impressive at all. That's very much of it, I think.

Recommended.

Chains of Darkness

Chains of Darkness - Caris Roane 2 stars

It was boring, couldn't connected with the main characters, they had no chemistry, too much sex, and didn't get to the matter until 70% of book but by that point I cared no longer.

The Tycoon's Revenge

The Tycoon's Revenge - Melody Anne 4 stars

This is an honest and highly subjective review, proceed with caution. You have been warned.

I'm sucker for a second chance love story, especially when there's secret baby/kid involved. It was a wonderful story, I must say. I felt connected with both main characters and they had amazing chemistry together. The romance was sweet. The reunion was even sweeter. However, I didn't like the ending. Derek and Jasmine finally did the closure but it wasn't in satisfying way. It was so sudden at point it just didn't make any sense but then on second thought, whatever, love conquers all.

Main characters. Derek (super rich guy) + Jasmine (former rich girl) + Jacob (their 9 y.o. son)
